WaterWise is a non-profit organisation formed as an offshoot from the National Sea Rescue Institute to address the educational
elements of safety around expanses of water, as well as protocol and procedure in emergency situations.
Our aim is to make youngsters aware of the dangers around water and to give them hands on practical experience on how to act in
an emergency. WaterWise encourages all South Africans to be more sensible and better prepared. The core message is: learn the
local emergency number and be a proactive bystander by knowing what to do while you wait for the ambulance to arrive.
We believe that if more youngsters are empowered with the valuable life skill of CPR, and coached to have the confidence to be
efficient first responders in emergency situations, fewer water related incidents would result in drownings.
