WaterWise arrives in the Eastern Cape

After receiving my training in Cape Town with Linda, it was back to Port Elizabeth to start training our Eastern Cape kids about the dangers of water around our areas.
I thought I would head to known territories by going to my old school to get a feel for the lectures. I was aiming to do a class or two at Grey and then head off into the underprivileged areas. Well, after my second lecture and a meeting with Lindsay Pearson, the headmaster, he asked me to carry on throughout the entire school.
It was a great feeling arriving at the school every morning for two weeks and having the kids run up to me telling me the 3 H’s and the rules that were taught to them. I felt like a hero to them and they treated me like one too. I never had to carry my CPR doll again. I was met at my car by smiling kids early in the morning and then escorted back in the afternoons.
The kids all responded very well to the classes. They were keen to answer any questions posed to them and they were even keener to try out the CPR techniques on the CPR dummy.
These classes were all done before the Easter holidays so hopefully all the Grey Junior School kids are having a safe Holiday.
